In accordance with the City of Needles Municipal Code Ordinance 490 Section 13-34.1, no person shall operate or move a vehicle, combination of vehicles, or special mobile equipment that exceeds the size or weight limits specified by the California Vehicle Code on any highway or street within the city limits without first obtaining a transportation permit. If you plan to transport an oversized load within the City of Needles, you are required to obtain an Oversize Transportation Permit from the City Engineering Department before proceeding. This ensures safe and legal travel on our city streets.

Please fill out the application form and submit it with:
- Proof of Insurance (Naming City of Needles in the Certificate).
- Credit Card Authorization in the amount of $16 + 3% (Per load and/or trip) or an Annual Permit is available for $75 +3% (Per truck transporting). Permit costs have additional charges depending on whether the load needs assistance from the Sheriff, Electric Company raising wires or Crossing the Colorado River Bridge.
Additional charges may be:
- Crossing Arizona Bridge – $250
- Loads requiring Assistance by (Sheriff) $220
- Loads requiring Assistance by the Needles Electric Department – $300
The Transportation company must show clearance from other utility companies.
